Asahi Building Wall Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “AGB”) is pleased to announce that a case study of its joint development project has been featured on the website of DigitalArchi Co., Ltd., a Keio University-spun-off startup specializing in the development of 3D-printed formwork (digital formwork) for the construction industry.
In this case study, we are exploring ways to improve shape accuracy and streamline the manufacturing process by utilizing 3D-printed formwork in conjunction with GRC (Glassfiber Reinforced Cement), a material known for its ability to reproduce free-form surfaces. The featured article showcases photographs of prototypes with distinctive forms, as well as the manufacturing process—including formwork layering, molding, and finishing—demonstrating the new possibilities that arise from the combination of digital technology and traditional craftsmanship.
