AGB participated in the Public Presentation for the Horyuji 2026 Architecture Student Workshop

2026.9.24

On Sunday, September 13, 2026, AGB attended the public presentation for the “Architecture Student Workshop Horyuji 2026,” held at Horyuji Temple in Nara Prefecture.

The architecture student workshop is an educational program in which students studying architecture, environmental design, and related fields leave the campus to create actual spaces under the guidance of architects and engineers, while interpreting the history, culture, and environment of the local area.

Asahi Building Wall Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “AGB”) has been sponsoring this workshop since 2015 to support the next generation of architecture students. In 2026, the workshop was held at Horyu-ji Temple, where two AGB employees participated as advisors to support the students throughout the design and production process.

Following a field survey in June and a review session for their proposed designs in July, the students began their stay at Horyu-ji Temple on September 8. Each group created full-scale installations based on their proposed designs, using locally sourced materials and other resources.

At the public presentation held on the 13th, each group presented the background of their proposals and the production process based on their completed works, followed by feedback from architects, engineers, and others.

On the day of the event, Masayuki Sakurai, Chairman of the Board of Directors at AGB, also took the stage and addressed the participants.

We take the ideas conceived through drawings and models and bring them to life as actual spaces, while carefully considering materials, construction methods, and details. Throughout this process, we encounter challenges that were not apparent during the design phase alone and go through a series of trials and errors.

This experience of moving back and forth between “Thinking” and “Creating” is also linked to the “Practical Knowledge” that AGB values in its day-to-day facade engineering work.

AGB will continue to pass on the knowledge and experience we have cultivated through our professional practice to the next generation by sponsoring architecture student workshops and encouraging employee participation, while also supporting the hands-on learning of students studying architecture.
